Once upon a time, a man walked through an elephant camp and noticed something interesting. The elephants there weren’t kept in cages or tied up with strong chains.
Instead, they had a small rope tied to one of their legs.
The man wondered why the elephants, which were strong and powerful, didn’t use their strength to break free from the camp.
It seemed like they could easily do it, but they never tried.
Curious, the man asked a trainer nearby for an explanation.
The trainer said;
“When these elephants were very young and much smaller, we used the same size rope to tie them. Back then, it was enough to hold them.
As they grew up, they got used to thinking they couldn’t break away.
They believe the rope can still hold them, so they never try to escape.”
So, the reason the elephants didn’t break free wasn’t because they couldn’t, but because they believed they couldn’t due to their past experiences with the rope.
